Kuju Highlands located on the premises of Aso Kuju National Park provides a great panoramic view of the rich greenery as far as one can see. Many rare plants and living organisms have survived here as a result of hundreds of years of grazing and open burning continued in the region.
Open burning here natively called "noyaki," in particular, is selected by the Ministry of the Environment Government of Japan for 100 Best Aromatic Landscapes.
