Transportation between Beppu and Yufuin (Bus)

Beppu is an internationally-renowned onsen tourist destination, whereas Yufuin is a tranquil, classic, and traditional hot spring village. For going back and forth between the two onsen regions, the city bus and sightseeing bus Yufurin are highly recommended. Please refer to the follow procedures for how to get on the local bus.

Sightseeing bus Yufurin

Only stops at major locations. Smooth and fast travel to Yufuin.

  • Number of services: 7 round-trips/weekday, 7 round-trips/on Sat., Sun., and national holidays.
  • Departure/Arrival: Beppu Station, Kitahama Bus Center, Beppu Kotsu Center, Kannawaguchi, Beppu Ropeway, Kijima Kogen Park, Yufuin Ekimae Bus Center

  • Number of services: 12 round-trips/weekday, 17 round-trips/on Sat., Sun., and national holidays.

    It is about a 10min-walk from Yufuin Ekimae Bus Center to Yunotsubo Kaido and Kinrin Lake. Takemoto is the closest bus stop to Yunotsubo Kaido and Kinrin Lake. Most establishments in Yufuin including souvenir shops and restaurants close at around 5 to 6 pm. Please plan your trip accordingly.

How to ride the bus

  1. Board the bus from the back side door and take the numbered ticket dispensed near the door.
  2. As you approach your destination, the announcement for your destination will be made. To get off, press one of the "exit" buttons found throughout the bus. If you are unsure or confused as to where to get off, please feel free to ask the driver at any time.
  1. Check the number on your numbered ticket with the number on the digital board displayed at the front of the bus. It indicates your ride fee. Place your fee and ticket stub into the ride fee box located right next to the driver as you exit the bus from the front side door. * For SUNQ Pass users, show your SUNQ pass and the date printed on the Pass to the driver and place the ticket stub into the ride fee box as you exit.
