Accessing Oita with a SUNQ Pass

Arrival at Fukuoka Airport

Currency exchange, restrooms, shops, and other amenities are available in the arrival lobby of the Fukuoka Airport International Terminal Building. We recommend that you make use of these prior to your departure for Oita. Please refer to the following procedures for accessing Oita using your SUNQ Pass.

Purchasing a SUNQ Pass

Types and prices

SUNQ Pass: 3 types
1. Green ticket - SUNQ Pass: All Kyushu and Yamaguchi-Shimonoseki City (4 Days) approx. 14,000yen
2. Blue ticket - SUNQ Pass: All Kyushu and Yamaguchi-Shimonoseki City (3 Days) approx. 10,000yen
3. Red ticket - SUNQ Pass: Northern Kyushu and Yamaguchi-Shimonoseki City (3 Days) approx. 8,000yen
* Northern Kyushu consists of: Fukuoka, Saga, Nagasaki, Oita, and Kumamoto.
Ride reservations: must be made prior to or at the time of purchase.
SUNQ Pass is applicable for buses with this sticker.

Accessing each location from Fukuoka Airport

There are buses leaving for each part of Kyushu from Fukuoka Airport such as Nagasaki, Kumamoto, Yufuin, etc. The bus stops for each destination are in different locations in the Domestic Terminal and International Terminal.

How to ride the bus with a SUNQ Pass

1. Confirm your bus route.

Please confirm your bus stop and bus route according to your destination. Also, please make sure that a SUNQ Pass can be used or that the SUNQ Pass sticker is displayed on the bus.


★SUNQ Pass: All Kyushu only

★SUNQ Pass: All Kyushu and Northern Kyushu

2. Get on the bus & take the numbered ticket.

Get on from the front of the bus when boarding a Highway Bus. Get on from the middle of the bus for all other buses. Take the numbered ticket as you get on.

3. Get off the bus.

As you approach your destination, the announcement for your destination will be made. To get off, press one of the "exit" buttons found throughout the bus. If you are unsure or confused, please feel free to ask the driver prior to boarding the bus.

4. Show your SUNQ Pass to the driver.

Show your SUNQ pass and the date printed on the Pass to the driver, and place the numbered ticket into the ride fee box located next to the driver as you exit the bus.

To Beppu or Yufuin from Fukuoka Airport

Purchase a SUNQ Pass and once your reservation is completed, exit the International Terminal Building and take a left toward the bus stop bound for Beppu and Yufuin.

Get on the Beppu/Yufuin-bound bus at Bus Stop #2. Departure time may be delayed due to heavy traffic in and around Fukuoka City. Please be advised.

To Beppu

  • Duration: approx. 2 hrs
  • Bus stop: Fukuoka Airport International Terminal →
    Kannawaguchi Bus Stop: Staying in and around Kannawa, popular for Beppu Jigoku Meguri (Hell Tour).
    Beppu Kitahama Bus Stop: For staying in and around Beppu Station with hotels, shopping and restaurant district.
    The International Tourist Information Center is located within Beppu Station. (Service available in English and Korean. Irregular hours for Chinese.) Delivery and postal service are also available within the premises - recommended for those wishing to travel light.

To Yufuin

  • Duration: approx. 1 hr 45 min.
  • Bus stop: Fukuoka Airport International Terminal → Yufuin Ekimae Bus Center
    Easy access to many ryokan and tourist spots such as Yunotsubo Kaido and Kinrin Lake. Some of the ryokan offer shuttle bus services. Please confirm the proximity of your lodging from the station beforehand as your facility may or may not be close to the station. A tourist information center is located within the Yufuin Station building.
    Delivery and postal service are also available right across from the station - recommended for those wishing to travel light.
